Chamber of Rose "Rehearsal '18" tape

Regular price $10.00

'Forensic Diatribe presents the inaugural demo, simply called “Rehearsal 18,” from Chamber of Rose, an anonymous project by a lone musician based in the Pacific Northwest that defies simple categorization. Not originally intended for public release, these tracks were recorded to cassette as a precursor to the upcoming debut full-length album “Darkbloom.”

Featuring complex guitar work, programmed drums, and an array of keyboards and synthesizers, the demo is an ambitious opening statement by a unique and visionary artist. Chamber of Rose draws together numerous stylistic sources, deftly weaving them into a hauntingly melodious gothic metal tapestry untethered to a single style. The sounds span the full spectrum of metal, with somber keyboard-laden doom giving way to thick death metal riffs punctuated with vibrant heavy metal flourishes, synth interludes, and ornate orchestral passages gilded with electric piano arpeggios. In contrast to the elaborate composition and precision execution, the comparatively crude production value of the cassette recording enshrouds the songs in a hazy atmosphere. It is this contradictory union of minimalist production and maximalist composition that makes this a captivating recording deserving of a broader consideration.'

Pro-tape release with slightly different versions of the recording on each side, the A-side containing the original master and the B-side a more overdriven, distorted version that was present on the self-distributed release.

Officially distributed by CW Productions.
